AWG Photo Club Exhibition, April 30 to May 4, 2011
The annual AWG photography club exhibition was held at the Al Madina Art Gallery from April 30 to May 4, 2011.

Our own art teacher Sunita Rajvanshi has been very busy in teaching amateur, enthusiastic AWG artists, twice per week. Recently, she has arranged for an exhibition at her home in Qurum on 17th April, view the event here.
Priyadarshini - an intimate encounter with Sari, April 2011
AWG members were shown different methods of wearing a traditional Sari. AWG members were able to dress up in a Sari, wear traditional Indian jewellery, have henna painting and enjoy an indian style brunch. Photos from this event can be viewed here.
AWG Charity Dinner, February 2011
The annual charity dinner was held at the Ambassador's residence. All proceeds from the event went to support Dar Al Hanan, which was started by the National Association for Cancer Awareness (NACA) to provide accommodation and support to families of children with cancer from all parts of Oman who must come to Muscat for treatment. Yuthar Al Ruwahi, one of the founding members of NACA, was our guest of honor. Sponsors for the event included the Desert Trading Company and Moosa Abdul Rahman Hassan and Company, LLC. Wonderful door prizes were donated by a number of local businesses. Entertainment was provided by local opera singer Elizabeth Chivers and fellow musicians who performed a program of both classical and contemporary pieces. Guests enjoyed a musical evening and delicious dinner outside under the stars for a very special cause. Photos can be viewed here.

AWG members visited Oman Botanic Gardens, an ambitious project still at the beginning of its amazing journey, our members witnessed the making of this
world-class centre for learning, fun, research, relaxation and conservation through the supervision of Sarah Kneebone and other staffs from OBG.

AWG members visited gardens in Seeb nurseries and were given a guided tour by the writer Anne Love.
Christmas Luncheon, December 2010
The American Women's Group hosted a Christmas luncheon for members on December 12th at the home of AWG Honarary President, Sandy Schmierer, wife of the U.S. Ambassador. Our luncheon speaker, Mrs. Muna Ritchie of the non-profit organization, Omani Heritage Gallery LLC, gave a video presentation on the Gallery's work to preserve the Omani handicrafts and create a future for the artisans. Mrs. Ritchie spoke on the organization of artisans around Oman who work in weaving, coppersmithing, pottery, basketry and embroidery and supply their products to the Omani Heritage Gallery in Jawaharat Al Shatti and Nizwa. The Gallery has acquired a space in Madinat Al Qaboos neighborhood that will open in the coming months to host workshops for the public to participate in such as Kummah embroidering and indigo color dyeing.
  
Hoilday Bazaar, 29th October 2010
Our Holiday Bazaar this year was held at Omani Women’s Association on Friday the 29th Oct 2010.
The Holiday Bazaar was a great success. There was a huge section of hand/home made items for sale, near and long destination holiday ideas for your holidays from our sponsored Qatar Airways, excellent stay offers by Marriott Salalah, great offers from Muscat Pharmacy – NUXE, lovely food provided by Thai Basil, Caribou, Pizza Inn....we had everything at the Bazaar.
Lots of fun, loads of shopping, laughing, chatting with friends. It was a really great afternoon for all of us.
